MONSOON FESTIVAL
On 12 Sept, the 2nd Nirlep- Nath Valley Monsoon Festival took off to a
grand start with lamp lighting by
Prinicipal, Mr. Ranjit Dass and chanting of guru stotram by the
students of class XI.
The 11 participating schools were St. Lawrence, Cambridge, Ryan
International, St.John’s, SBOA, Holy Cross, Dr. YS Khedkar
International, Podar International, Golden Jubilee School, Jalna,
Silver Oaks, Nasik, besides the host school. In his welcome address,
Principal, Mr. Ranjit Dass said that despite the keen competition
expected, this was a common forum of interaction.
The activity Co- ordinator, Mrs. K. Vig, then appraised the audience
about the day’s schedule. Each school was assisted by a teacher and
student volunteers.
Thereafter began the 1st competition. Seven schools participated in
the Skit Competition. The 2 eminent judges were renowned
personalities, from the same field, Mrs. Sujata Kango and Mrs. Aditi
Someshwar, the third, an eminent journalist, Mrs. Lakshmi Murthy.
Mrs. Shobha Thirani, the teacher in charge of the event, spoke about
the timeliness of the theme of ‘Socially Relevant issues’.
The 1st place was bagged by Cambrigde School with a touching enactment
of the aged rejects of the society within the 4 walls of an oldage
home. Nath Valley bagged the 2nd place by showing the most common
problem of the over privileged, their neglect of the children and its
adverse effect on them. The 3rd place went to St. Lawrence with their
moving depiction of farmers’ suicides. The original creations were
appreciated by the judges.
The afternoon session began with the Extempore Contest, where the
teacher in charge, Mrs. Sumita Ganguly addressed the audience about
the importance of verbal skill in today’s world. Eleven schools
participated. There were three eminent judges. In the Junior group,
the 1st place was bagged by Silver Oak, the 2nd place by Podar
International and the 3rd place by Golden Jubilee, while Cambridge
bagged the 1st , Nath valley, the 2nd and Dr. Y.S Khedkar the 3rd
position in the senior category. Two of the judges, Mrs. Meena Sinha
and Dr. Rosie Ranjan gave the speakers valuable hints to upgrade their
presentations. During the prize distribution of the event, Mr. Mukund
Bhogale, M.D, Nirlep industries said that, in future he hoped to have
it on a grander scale with wider participation. He lauded the effort
of the school. The evening session was slated for the Quiz
Competition. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Mohandas and HOD, Science Dept,
Dr. R Dixit conducted the competition. There were 6 rounds, The
Newsmakers, the Lifeline, the Take Your Pick, the track and Field, the
Band and Solo and the Quick Think rounds.
The frequently fluctuating scores kept the quizzers on the edge of
their seats. SBOA and Nath Valley put up a good show, but a few well
timed correct answers catapulted Stepping Stones to the front. They
bagged the 1st position, followed by SBOA and Nath Valley School.
Prizes were given by Principal Ranjit Dass. Teachers of each
participating school was called on stage and given a memento. Mrs.
Mohandas proposed the vote of thanks.
