NVS HOLDS ANNUAL SPORTS MEET
The 17th Annual Sports Meet of Nath Valley School took off to a grand
start with the welcome address by the Principal, Mr. Ranjit Dass. Most
of the athletic events had been conducted earlier and the score stood
at a thrilling juncture where Mahanadi House lead Krishna by 33 points .
In the opening ceremony, the ceremonial torch was lit and carried by 4
eminent achievers in the field of sports, 2 of them selected for under
14 national Basketball and table tennis, handed over to the Chief guest,
Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, Special IGP, Aurangabad. He then delivered the oath
and declared the meet open. Thereafter was the show stealer of the morning,
the March Past by the four houses. The houses were dressed impeccably and
marched past the flag with military precision. The judges found it difficult
to grade the performance of each house. Eventually , Godavari House was
adjudged best and grabbed 78 points precious points, followed by Narmada 76
points, Krishna 73 points and Mahanadi 70 points. The Chief Guest, in his
address said that he was honored to be a part of the gathering. He praised
the effort of the faculty at training the students well. He also praised
the enthusiasm and the co-ordination of the contingents. The drill and yoga
displays by the four houses of Primary Section were entertaining. The fun races
and relays of Primary Section were also thrilling. The Junior Cross country
(held on 21st),was won by Ved Gindodia of Krishna House and Sai Soumya
Tiwari of Mahanadi House, amidst great enthusiasm , both having broken records.
The same event took a more serious hue when the seniors waited for the start of the
Cross Country, a distance of 2.5 km. There was great cheering and intense excitement
at the outcome. Both the junior and senior relays were very keenly contested.
Spectators cheered the participants with great enthusiasm. The occasion was made
greatly enjoyable for students as well as parents with Headmistress Mrs. D’Silva’s
expert commentary. It was a true ball by ball description. Thereafter followed the
Prize Distribution ceremony. Mahanadi House bagged the title of the top house, followed
by Krishna, Godavari and Narmada. The day’s programme ended with the rendition of the
School Song and the National Anthem.
